Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot Original)
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing (or blue cheese dressing)
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie chicken works well)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (sharp cheddar preferred)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (low-moisture, part-skim)
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for spider body, optional)
  • 2 black olives, sliced (for spider legs)
  • Tortilla chips, for serving
  • Celery sticks and carrot sticks, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese with an electric hand mixer until smooth and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
  3. Add buffalo wing sauce and ranch dressing; beat until well combined. Taste and adjust heat if desired.
  4. Fold in shredded chicken and 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly into a 9-inch pie dish or small baking dish. Smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until hot and bubbly around the edges.
  7. While dip bakes, let shredded mozzarella come to room temperature. Place in a piping bag or sturdy zip-top bag; snip off a small corner (about 1/4 inch wide).
  8. Remove dip from oven and let cool 2-3 minutes. Pipe concentric circles of mozzarella starting from the center, leaving about 1 inch between circles, until reaching the edge.
  9. Using a sharp knife or toothpick, gently drag from the center outward through the cheese circles to the edge, creating a starburst pattern. Repeat every 2 inches around the dish. Wipe knife clean between each drag.
  10. Return dish to oven for 3-4 minutes, until mozzarella is melted and gooey.
  11. Remove from oven. Place two black olive slices side by side in the center for the spider body. Arrange 8 thin olive strips around the body for legs.
  12. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, celery sticks, and carrot sticks.

Notes

Let mozzarella come to room temperature before piping to avoid clumps. Do not over-bake the dip before adding the web; it should be hot but not boiling. For clean web lines, use a thin knife or toothpick. The dip base can be prepared a day ahead and refrigerated; add the cheese web just before serving.
