This spiced apple cider Halloween sangria is the perfect party drink—easy to make, easy to drink, and impossible to resist. It combines crisp white wine, spiced apple cider, brandy, and fresh fruit for a cozy, autumnal flavor that feels like a warm hug in a glass.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 2 cups spiced apple cider
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (optional)
  • 2 apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji), cored and sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced into rounds
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 34 star anise (optional)
  • Ice cubes (or apple cider ice cubes)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish)
  • Additional cinnamon sticks (for stirring)

Instructions

  1. Prep the fruit: Wash the apples and orange thoroughly. Core the apples and slice them into thin rounds (about 1/4 inch thick). Slice the orange into thin rounds. Rinse the cranberries and pick out any soft ones. Set aside.
  2. Combine the liquids: In a large pitcher or punch bowl, pour the entire bottle of white wine. Add the spiced apple cider, brandy, and orange liqueur. If using maple syrup, drizzle it in. Stir gently with a wooden spoon until well combined.
  3. Add the fruit and spices: Drop in the apple slices, orange rounds, and cranberries. Tuck the cinnamon sticks and star anise into the liquid so they are submerged. Give everything one more gentle stir.
  4. Chill and steep: Cover the pitcher with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, ideally 4-6 hours or overnight for best flavor.
  5. Prepare for serving: When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice or apple cider ice cubes. Give the sangria a final stir to redistribute the fruit. Pour into glasses, making sure each serving gets a few apple slices, an orange round, and some cranberries. Garnish with a fresh rosemary sprig and an extra cinnamon stick if desired.

Notes

For best flavor, let the sangria steep in the refrigerator for at least 4-6 hours or overnight. Do not add ice directly to the pitcher to avoid dilution; let guests add ice to their glasses. For a non-alcoholic version, replace wine and brandy with more apple cider and a splash of ginger ale. To make apple cider ice cubes, freeze extra spiced apple cider in an ice cube tray.
