These layered patriotic jello shots combine vibrant red, white, and blue gelatin layers with vodka and a creamy middle for a festive and delicious party treat perfect for 4th of July celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 packet blue raspberry flavored gelatin
  • 1 packet strawberry flavored gelatin
  • 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin
  • 1 1/2 cups vodka
  • 3 cups water (divided)
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk or half-and-half
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Nonstick spray or oil for greasing serving cups (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Blue Layer: In a mixing bowl, dissolve the blue raspberry gelatin packet with 1 cup boiling water. Stir well until completely dissolved.
  2. Add Vodka: Pour in 1/2 cup cold vodka and 1/2 cup cold water. Mix gently. Pour this mixture evenly into your shot glasses or molds, filling about one-third full.
  3. Chill: Refrigerate for 30-40 minutes or until firm but not completely set (the surface should be slightly tacky).
  4. Make the Creamy White Layer: While the blue layer chills, bloom the unflavored gelatin by sprinkling it over 1/4 cup cold water. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  5. Heat and Mix: Warm the bloomed gelatin gently (microwave for 10-15 seconds or over a double boiler). In a bowl, combine the warmed gelatin with sweetened condensed milk or half-and-half, 1/2 cup cold vodka, 1 tablespoon sugar, and lemon juice. Stir until smooth.
  6. Layer the White: Carefully spoon or pour the creamy mixture over the blue layer. Refrigerate again for 30-40 minutes until set but still tacky.
  7. Prepare the Red Layer: Dissolve the strawberry gelatin packet in 1 cup boiling water. Stir thoroughly. Add 1/2 cup cold vodka and 1/2 cup cold water.
  8. Final Layer: Gently add the red gelatin on top of the white layer. Return shots to the fridge and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight to fully set.
  9. Serve: Run a warm knife edge around each shot to loosen, if needed. Serve chilled.

Notes

Let each layer chill until just firm and tacky before adding the next to prevent mixing. Use the back of a spoon to gently pour layers. Bloom unflavored gelatin separately for the creamy layer to ensure proper setting. Avoid hot vodka to preserve alcohol content. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 4 days. Avoid freezing to prevent texture changes.
