A quick and easy chocolate fondue recipe perfect for sharing, featuring a smooth blend of bittersweet and milk chocolate paired with fresh fruit for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 4 ounces milk chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of fine sea salt
  • 1 cup strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1 cup seedless green grapes
  • 1 cup banana slices (about 1 large banana)
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks
  • Optional: ½ cup marshmallows or pretzel sticks

Instructions

  1. Finely chop both the bittersweet and milk chocolate into small, even pieces for easy melting. Set aside.
  2. In a small saucepan, gently warm the heavy cream over medium-low heat until it just begins to simmer at the edges—do not let it boil.
  3. Remove the cream from heat and immediately add the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes to soften before stirring gently with a spatula until smooth and glossy.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt. Taste and adjust if needed.
  5. While the chocolate melts, wash and cut the fruit into bite-sized pieces. Arrange them attractively on a serving platter.
  6. Pour the melted chocolate into your fondue pot or heatproof bowl. If using a fondue pot with a candle or burner, light it now to keep the chocolate warm.
  7. Pass around fondue forks or skewers and encourage everyone to dip their favorite fruit into the chocolate. Stir occasionally to keep the chocolate silky.

Notes

Use quality chocolate bars for best melting results. Warm cream gently to avoid burning chocolate. Stir chocolate occasionally during serving to maintain smoothness. For dairy-free version, substitute heavy cream with full-fat coconut cream and use vegan dark chocolate. Leftover fondue can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and gently reheated.
