A quick and easy Halloween charcuterie board that comes together in 20 minutes, featuring a spiderweb design made with string cheese, meats, cheeses, and festive garnishes. Perfect for parties, pre-trick-or-treat snacking, or a cozy movie night.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces salami, thinly sliced (Genoa recommended)
  • 4 ounces prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • 4 ounces pepperoni (optional, mini preferred)
  • 6 ounces cheddar cheese, cubed or sliced (sharp recommended)
  • 4 ounces Gouda, sliced (smoked recommended)
  • 4 ounces Brie (small wheel)
  • 1 cup crackers (mix of plain and flavored, e.g., water crackers and rosemary)
  • 1/2 cup pretzel sticks
  • 1/2 cup roasted almonds (smoked or salted)
  • 1 cup red grapes (in small clusters)
  • 1/2 cup dried apricots (halved if large)
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate pieces (chips or broken bar)
  • 1/4 cup black olives, sliced (pitted)
  • 2 sticks string cheese
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the base (5 minutes): Place the Brie wheel in the center of a large round board (or rectangular platter). If desired, warm Brie at 350ยฐF for 10 minutes, but room temperature works well. Arrange cheddar cubes and Gouda slices around the Brie, leaving a 2-inch border around the edge for the web.
  2. Create the spiderweb strands (3 minutes): Pull string cheese sticks apart into thin, long strands (6-8 per stick). Lay them from the center (around the Brie) outward to the edge of the board, like spokes on a wheel. Space evenlyโ€”about 8 to 10 spokes total. Piece together any broken strands.
  3. Build the web rings (3 minutes): Using remaining string cheese strands, connect the spokes by placing shorter pieces in a circular pattern, starting about 2 inches from the center and working outward. Each ring should be about 1.5 inches apart. Gently press them into the spokes so they stick.
  4. Add the meats (3 minutes): Fold salami slices in half and then in half again to create small triangles. Place them between the web spokes around the outer edge. Lay prosciutto in loose, wavy folds next to the salami. If using pepperoni, scatter it near the salami.
  5. Fill in the gaps (3 minutes): Add clusters of grapes in a few spots. Place pretzel sticks in small piles. Scatter roasted almonds and dried apricots around the meats. Tuck dark chocolate pieces near the cheese.
  6. Create the spider (2 minutes): Use a slice of black olive for the body and place it on top of the Brie or near the center of the web. Use small slivers of olive for the legs, arranging them so it looks like a spider. Optionally, use a tiny piece of red pepper for eyes.
  7. Finish with garnishes (1 minute): Tuck fresh rosemary sprigs around the edges. If desired, place a small bowl of honey or fig jam near the Brie. Step back and admire your work.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature cheese (take out of fridge 30 minutes before). If string cheese strands are too sticky, lightly dust fingers with flour or cornstarch. Place the spider last to avoid knocking it off. The board can be assembled up to 4 hours in advance; add string cheese web and spider just before serving. Leftovers keep for up to 3 days in the refrigerator; re-crisp crackers in a 300ยฐF oven for 5 minutes.
