A cozy, easy-to-make fall sangria that balances sweet apple cider with salty caramel and fresh fruit. Perfect for autumn gatherings and approachable for both alcohol lovers and non-drinkers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 quarts (1.9 liters) 100% pure apple cider
  • 1 cup (240 ml) Brandy or Applejack
  • ½ cup (120 ml) Salted Caramel Syrup
  • 1 cup (240 ml) Freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji), cored and sliced thinly
  • 1 medium pear, sliced thinly
  • 2 oranges, cut into wheels
  • 34 cinnamon sticks
  • Fresh thyme sprigs

Instructions

  1. Wash all fruit thoroughly. Slice apples and pears into thin, uniform rounds, keeping the skin on. Slice oranges into wheels, removing seeds. Place fruit in a large bowl.
  2. In a large pitcher, combine apple cider, brandy (or applejack), orange juice, and salted caramel syrup. Stir gently but thoroughly to dissolve the caramel.
  3. Taste the mixture and adjust if necessary: add more orange juice or salt if too sweet, or more caramel if too sharp.
  4. Add the sliced apples, pears, and orange wheels to the pitcher. Drop in cinnamon sticks and fresh thyme sprigs.
  5. Refrigerate the pitcher for at least 30 minutes, up to 2 hours, to allow flavors to meld and fruit to chill.
  6. Just before serving, add large ice cubes to each glass. Ladle the sangria into glasses, ensuring a mix of liquid and fruit.
  7. Garnish with an extra slice of apple or a sprig of thyme and serve immediately.

Notes

Use 100% pure, cloudy apple cider for best flavor. If the caramel separates in the cold, stir well before serving. For a non-alcoholic version, substitute the brandy with extra apple cider or sparkling grape juice. Large ice cubes are recommended to prevent dilution.
