A quick and easy dessert featuring a graham cracker crust, a rich maple bourbon filling, and toasted pecans. Perfect for potlucks and last-minute cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 2 tablespoons extra butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper and grease lightly.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, sugar, and salt until it resembles wet sand.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden. Remove and leave oven on.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk maple syrup and brown sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, whisking gently to combine.
  5. Stir in bourbon, vanilla extract, heavy cream, and flour until the mixture is smooth.
  6. Pour the filling over the hot crust. Arrange pecan halves on top. Optionally, toss pecans in melted butter first for extra crispiness.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until edges are bubbling and the center jiggles slightly. Cover with foil if pecans brown too quickly.
  8. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before slicing into squares.

Notes

Room temperature eggs are crucial to prevent curdling. Do not cut the bars while warm as they need time to set. For best flavor, let them cool overnight or refrigerate for a day before serving.
