These creepy-cute witch finger pretzel rods are a no-bake Halloween treat that’s super easy for little hands to help make. Made with just pretzel rods, green candy melts, and slivered almonds, they’re a budget-friendly crowd-pleaser that disappears fast at any spooky gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (12-16 oz) bag pretzel rods
  • 1 (12 oz) bag green candy melts or wafers
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • Red gel food coloring or red icing (optional, for ‘blood’ detail)
  • Black or brown icing pen (optional, for wrinkles/knuckles)
  • Wax paper or parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Prep your station: Line a baking sheet with wax paper. Lay out pretzel rods, slivered almonds, and any decorations.
  2. Melt the candy coating: Place green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on 50% power for 1 minute. Stir well. Continue microwaving in 30-second intervals on 50% power, stirring thoroughly between each, until completely smooth and melted.
  3. Dip the pretzels: Hold a pretzel rod by one end and dip it into the melted candy, submerging about two-thirds to three-quarters of the way down. Gently twist to get an even coat. Lift out and let excess drip back into the bowl.
  4. Place and add the ‘fingernail’: Lay the coated pretzel on the prepared baking sheet. While the candy is still wet, press a slivered almond into the tip, pointy side out, to look like a fingernail.
  5. Add the details (optional): Use a toothpick to drag a line of red gel coloring around the base of the almond for a ‘bloody cuticle.’ Use a black or brown icing pen to draw knuckles and wrinkles.
  6. Let them set: Allow the witch fingers to sit at room temperature until the candy coating is completely hard, about 15-20 minutes.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Gently peel them off the wax paper and arrange on a platter.

Notes

Melt candy melts slowly on 50% power to prevent seizing. If candy thickens, stir in 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening. For nut-free version, omit almonds or use candy corn instead. Store in airtight container at room temperature for up to a week; do not refrigerate.
