These mummy hot dogs are a quick, fun, and crowd-pleasing Halloween appetizer made with just hot dogs and crescent roll dough. They’re perfect for last-minute parties and always disappear first.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 count) hot dogs (beef recommended)
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Mustard or ketchup (for eyes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Open the can of crescent roll dough and unroll it on a clean cutting board. Press the perforated seams together to create one solid sheet. Smooth to about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Cut the dough lengthwise into thin strips, about 8 to 10 strips per sheet, each about 1/2 inch wide.
  4. Take one strip of dough and wrap it around a hot dog at a slight angle, leaving a small gap near the top for the face. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and dough strips.
  5. Arrange wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each.
  6. In a small bowl, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water. Brush the egg wash over each mummy.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool for about 5 minutes.
  9. Using a toothpick or small squeeze bottle, dot two small eyes on each mummy with mustard or ketchup.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use beef hot dogs. Leave about half an inch bare at the top for the face. Apply mustard eyes right before serving to prevent soaking. Can be assembled up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerated. Freeze unbaked for up to 2 months.
