These Adorable Black Cat Oreo Truffle Pops are a fun and easy Halloween treat. With a rich Oreo truffle center, a glossy chocolate shell, and cute candy eyes, they’re perfect for parties and look like they came from a bakery.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (14.3 oz) package Oreo cookies (regular, not Double Stuf)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 12 oz black candy melts or black melting wafers
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional)
  • 4860 candy eyes (small half-sphere kind)
  • Black licorice strings or black decorating gel
  • 24 lollipop sticks (4-inch size)

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Place the entire package of Oreos (filling and all) into your food processor. Pulse until you have fine, sand-like crumbs. Set the crumbs aside in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Mix the truffle base: Add the softened cream cheese to the bowl with the Oreo crumbs. Using your hand mixer on low speed (or a spatula), mix until everything is fully combined. The mixture should look like a thick, dark, slightly sticky dough.
  3. Form the truffle balls: Scoop out about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it between your palms into a smooth ball. You should get about 24 balls. Place each ball on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. First chill: Place the baking sheet with the truffle balls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 1 hour.
  5. Insert the sticks: While the truffles are chilling, melt about 1/4 cup of your black candy melts in the microwave (30-second intervals, stirring in between). Once melted, dip the tip of a lollipop stick into the melted candy, then gently push it about halfway into a chilled truffle ball. Repeat for all 24 truffles. Place them back in the fridge for another 10-15 minutes to set the sticks.
  6. Melt the coating: Place the remaining black candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each, until smooth and fully melted. If the mixture seems too thick, stir in 1 tablespoon of coconut oil or shortening.
  7. Dip the pops: Hold a truffle pop by the stick and submerge it completely into the melted candy. Gently lift it out, letting the excess drip back into the bowl.
  8. Set the shape: Before the coating sets, gently press two small candy eyes (or a tiny dab of extra melted chocolate) onto the top of the truffle to form the points of the ears.
  9. Add the face: While the coating is still wet, press on the two candy eyes for the face. Then, using the black decorating gel, draw three tiny whiskers on each side of the face. Add a tiny dot for the nose.
  10. Final set: Stick the finished pop into your styrofoam block or prepared box. Let them set completely at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes, or until the coating is hard and shiny.

Notes

For best results, use full-fat cream cheese and regular Oreos (not Double Stuf). Chill the truffle balls thoroughly before dipping to prevent cracking. If the candy melts are too thick, add a little coconut oil or shortening. Work in small batches to keep the melted chocolate from thickening.
